FEE PROCESS

  • Session rates are set through collaborative assessment of your socioeconomic circumstances (e.g., employment, housing, education, family status, care- and changework contribution, systemic barriers, etc.).

Please complete my Session Rate Self-Assessment Tool to help you determine how your own circumstances line up with my fee structure. It’s by no means exhaustive or prescriptive, but it will provide you with a good sense of where we might set your fee.

Consider the fee with the best overall alignment with your circumstances. We’ll set your session fee together during our consultation session.

  • I offer an allotted number of sliding scale spaces along three tiers, based on client circumstances. These Restorative Rates are specifically reserved for community members surviving and resisting economic injustice (as it intersects with race, Indigeneity, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, faith, age, migration context, chronic or life-limiting illness, and family/caregiver status).

My sliding scale spaces make up a minimum of 40% of my standard fee client roster at any time, with at least one slot available in tiers two and three — allowing for equitable and accountable rebalancing within the scale itself. For example, if I am seeing seven clients who are paying the Sustaining Rate, I have a minimum of three Restorative Rate slots available, with one allocated to each tier. If those three spaces end up being filled by clients whose circumstances best align them with tiers one and two, a fourth spot is automatically allotted for a client whose circumstances align with tier three.

Please know that I don’t ask for any paperwork to support requests for a Restorative Rate. Relationship and community are forged and sustained through radical trust, care, and accountability. We’ll simply discuss how your circumstances align with my self-assessment tool, and set your fee based on our conversation.

We can talk completely openly about fees — please don’t take on any unnecessary additional stress! Whether you’re requesting a consultation session or you’re an existing client whose economic circumstances have changed, just determine your eligibility with the Session Rate Self-Assessment Tool, then reach out to let me know that you’d like to discuss a Restorative Rate. I’ll be open about what’s possible for me at that time, based on my client roster and my own financial circumstances, but there’s absolutely no need for any sensitivity or formality on my behalf.

  • To ensure equitable access for all (potential) clients, I ask that we revisit your sliding scale eligibility together every six months. Rest assured that if your circumstances still align with your set rate, your session fee will remain the same. I know how unacceptably difficult it is to access consistent, long term, relational-experiential therapeutic care while surviving and resisting systemic oppression, structural violence, and sociopolitical trauma. There is no session number limit for Restorative Rates — our work will honour the pace of your healing.

  • Yes, I currently offer up to four six-month Healing Bursaries per rolling year, with a maximum of two slots at any given time. Learn more!

  • I offer the option of 90-minute sessions for clients who want more time than the standard hour — either regularly (every week), or at specifically arranged times, based on shifting circumstances and needs (and scheduling availability).

Extended session fees are calculated by discounting 10% off your set hourly session rate, pro-rating this reduced fee to 1.5 times, and rounding down (e.g., $135 x .90 = $121.50 x 1.5 = $182).

I offer extended sessions at a discounted rate to make them more financially accessible for clients who need them, honouring the reality that periods of crisis; complex circumstances; transgenerational, intersectional injustice; multiplicities in ways of processing and integrating experience; and trauma-focused practice — as important, intertwined examples — demand and deserve time and depth for healing. The fee reduction also acknowledges that my extra-session labour and financial expenditures (e.g., session note-writing, supervision, research, professional development, scheduling/billing, travel) for extended sessions aren’t 1.5 times those for my standard sessions.

  • Into your exquisitely specific healing journey…unfolding on the path mapped here.

“Solidarity does not assume that our struggles are the same struggles, or that our pain is the same pain, or that our hope is for the same future. Solidarity involves commitment, and work, as well as the recognition that even if we do not have the same feelings, or the same lives, or the same bodies, we do live on common ground.”
